This is incredible to watch.

Life really is a pendulum. Things swing in and out of style constantly. Take flared jeans. In the ’60s, they were on the rage, especially if you were going to Woodstock with your friends for a few days to protest or something. Now, apparently, they are back in style! Flared jeans that is, not Woodstock.

Despite increasing urbanization, people still seem to be interested in the farming life!

That same pendulum applies to career choices. Farming was a necessity and requirement for almost every human in recent history (if you wanted food a least). Now, it’s apparently become a TikTok trend! The strange irony of farming being a TikTok trend isn’t lost on me, but we can still appreciate it for what it is: people are interested in how things work.

One farmer saw the potential in filming his venture and posting it to social media.

Sang Qingjun is a 40-year-old farmer who may have just found the funniest combination of modern tech and ancient careers. Sang is a chicken farmer who started to document raising his birds and posting the videos on social media.

Sang Qingjun lives in northern China and has a flock (is that the right word?) of 70,000 chickens!

Sang is from the Maosheng Village and has become a “celebrity” of sorts from his chicken farming documentation. Each day is special for a chicken farmer, and you never know exactly what is going to happen! When you deal with live animals, there is an added connection that you just don’t have when you are working with plants.

Typically, Sang’s day starts with him driving his motorcycle onto the fields to feed the chickens.

Everyone raises their kids differently and apparently, everyone raises their chickens differently! Sang is very particular when it comes to his chicken’s daily routine and diet. He is also in-tune with the environment he is raising them in. In the first few months, for example, he didn’t even feed them all that much because they mostly lived off the grasshoppers and bugs that were in the straw!

Their normal diet consists of corn, fish, and bones.

Chickens are the garbage disposals of nature. They can eat pretty much anything, and the diet that Sang has them on is meant to help them develop a certain way AND taste a certain way. He takes pride in the fact that he doesn’t even let them eat grass roots, allowing the ecosystem to remain balanced.

He even has the birds exercise each day!

Calling it his “fitness program,” Sang “walks” the chickens around 10 kilometers each day while training them to fly.

His new plan is to have a flock of 300,000 chickens the following year!

Chicken farming can be very profitable if you know what you’re doing. With his social media accounts blowing up and his demand skyrocketing, Sang is well on his way to conquering the world of farming AND modernity, all in one swing.
