New moms can’t take their eyes off of their newborns. They want to hold them all the time while they talk to them in a baby voice.

“Aww”, “how cute are you”, “I love you so much” are only some of the things you’ll hear a new mother say to her baby. The baby usually does nothing because they’re just starting to realize they’re not in the womb anymore.

Similarly, animal mothers have ways in which they communicate with their newborns, and when they do, they are the cutest thing to watch and hear.

Cats, in particular, tend to meow, chirr, and chirp in order to communicate with their kittens, and this is how they start interacting with them.

Meowing is usually what newborn kittens do to catch their mothers’ attention, and they keep doing it until they’re about five months of age.

Chirring is what sounds like a meow but this time rolled on the tongue. This sound is used by mother cats to call their kittens inside the nest.

Experts have found that kittens develop an ability to distinguish their mother’s chirring and not confuse it with that of other cats.

“We conclude that chirps emitted by mother cats at the nest represent a specific form of vocal communication with their young, and that kittens learn and respond positively to these and distinguish them from chirps of other mothers,” experts say.

Just like any mama cat, Miyu also talks to her little ones.

The three kittens are around their mom, nursing and kneading their mom to help her nurse them more efficiently. In an act of affection, mama cat chirrs to them while she also hugs and grooms them.

The sound is too cute, and watching the family communicate is simply amazing. The kittens feel safe because they now recognize their mom’s talk, and they just enjoy her affection.
