It’s easy to forget, but animals like to play just as much as humans do! In fact, they sometimes want to play even more than we do! One scientist says:
“They’re setting up a cognitive space where they can create a problem and then solve it.” – Inverse
When we are able to capture these moments on camera, it’s usually pretty adorable.
Whether it’s a cute puppy or a stomping elephant, watching animals play seems to be a national pastime for us humans! For one little horse, tapping into humanity’s love of cuteness ended up going viral.
A few years ago, a horse was captured on film playing with a ball in a field, but things ended pretty hilariously!
The video starts with a painted horse tossing a ball around. Like a kid playing, the horse is having an absolute blast. Tossing it up into the air, the horse seems to be getting closer and closer to the electric fence.
The human filming keeps laughing as the horse seems to be intentionally throwing it into the fence!
“Don’t purposefully throw it through the fence!”
Like a baby tossing food off of the table, the horse seems to be acting a bit silly. For some reason, babies love to throw toys around and then get upset when their parents don’t get it for them fifteen times in a row!
As we guessed, the ball is soon knocked through the fence.
Looking frantic and angry, the horse is clearly upset that it’s gone! Kicking up and throwing its hooves back, this looks like the start of a temper tantrum!
It’s a hilarious example of how silly animals can be.
“Another possible explanation for play, says Leca, is that it’s an evolutionary byproduct. He notes that many animals, especially young ones, have an innate need to explore and experiment, a trait that could be useful for discovering food sources or learning other important lessons. “
We find out the horse is named Talac, a half mustang! It’s no wonder he got a bit upset, he has a little anger in him! As he runs off and kicks, hoping to get his way, his human friend is able to head over and get his ball for him.
People seem to love watching the horsey temper tantrum!
The video, released only a few years ago, went viral. It currently has 2.3 million views and it’s no wonder – it’s hilarious! One commenter said:
Horse walks into a bar
Bartender: why the long face?
Horse: lost my ball
We love a good joke! Another one of our favorites is when Connor calls him a salty stallion!
As salty as he is, we know that Talac is just having some fun.
It’s all fun and games until the ball goes over the fence! It’s a good reminder that all animals need some time to play.
