Little Buckets Farm Sanctuary shows us how animals communicate and show their love the same way despite being different from each other.

We often categorize animals based on their natural spaces.

Animals like dogs and cats are considered domesticated because they mostly live in homes. They are often regarded as pets, companions, assistants, and even children to most paw-rents.

We also call farm animals because they live and work on the farm.

Others raise them for meat, livestock, and other raw products such as eggs and milk. These animals, especially cows and horses, are considered working animals. Some people find it a bit odd that others have farm animals as pets.

For Susan Klingenberg, it never mattered whether they were home or farm animals.

Little Buckets Farm Sanctuary started as a mere box to tick off her list. Susan wrote a bucket list in 2017, which included joining a livestock auction to save an animal from being butchered or bred for profit.

She did so and bid on a day-old calf for $10

Since then, she promised to keep doing that to save more animals. She currently has ten, three horses, two donkeys, and two pigs. Plus, Susan rescued six cats and two dogs.

People may think of this as total chaos, but Susan considered it a sanctuary.

Her love for animals manifested in her farm and organization. This might not be ideal for most people, but it worked perfectly for her.

And the story of Colton and Willow’s friendship could prove that.

Olive, the donkey, gave birth to precious little Willow. She was very protective of her baby, but Colton somehow found her way to befriend this new addition to the family.

Willow was only a few days old when Colton started visiting her in their stable.

She kept sticker her nose into the fence and started whimpering, eager to meet her new best friend. Colton did this almost every day until Olive trusted her to be near dear Willow.

Since then, the two have been inseparable.

Colton would play alongside Willow, inside the stable or outside the farm. It’s like looking after her little sister. They play and cuddle and chase each other around.

Susan particularly loved how Colton guided Willow during her walks.

She would take her out of the barn to take a walk every morning. It was challenging for Susan, but she immediately thought of getting some help from Colton. That’s when she saw how Colton led the way, and Willow followed.

Susan also said a beautiful message about how farm animals are like any pet.

“A lot of people don’t really connect the fact that farm animals are very much the same personalities as your dogs and cats (and) they all want to love and play. These two taught a lot of people the gentleness of farm animals, and it’s really cool to get to experience that,” Susan told The Dodo.

People on YouTube echoed and seconded Susan’s sentiments.

The friendship between Colton and Willow also resonated with most people, giving them the love and peace these two shares for each other.
