Working out can be rough. We all know that we should do it to keep us healthy and fit but sometimes we are just not in the mood. This can cause us to cut some corners and cheat a little bit while working out. I mean will a little break really be the end of the world? Do not worry, you are not alone in cheating.
This dog understands the urge to cheat during workout sessions too.
This Shetland Sheepdog, or “Sheltie”, was in the middle of his treadmill workout, when he decided to see if he could get away with a little rest. It does not take long in the video, only seconds, for him to start slowing down his pace. He does not only slow down, he has an entire plan. Once he slows down enough, he rests his back legs off the treadmill belt and only runs with his front legs.
He only has one problem; his personal trainer mom is keeping him to task.
The Sheltie knows that his mom is there but is hoping she will not notice. He quickly looks at her the moment he stops using all our legs but quickly looks away just ass fast. He gets away with it for a few seconds before she calls him out,
“Are you cheating?”
He knows he is caught and automatically jumps back on the treadmill at his original pace. Darn it!
Shetland Sheepdogs were originally used as, yes you guessed it, herding sheep. This has created the breed to be a very active dog. Since they are an active dog they need to have some type of exercise. They are also known for being very playful, love to please, loving, and extremely intelligent.
“Shelties are extremely intelligent and like to have a job to do. They can be stubborn, however. Make training fun and allow them time to make up their own minds to do what you want them to do,” DogTime explains.
This is one Sheltie that is not afraid to show he has a stubborn mind because he is not only going to cheat at his workout once, he is going to try again.
After keeping up his pace for a few seconds, the Sheltie looks straight back at his mom the entire time he starts to slow down. He must think she is looking at her phone and not paying attention to him, when really, she is filming him. The moment he puts his back legs to rest again, he turns his head to the other direction.
This smart dog does not want to get caught at all!
It does not take long for his mom to say,
“You’re cheating, go for a walk.”
Once she tells him he is cheating, his four legs are right back on the treadmill.
He might want to have a lazy day, but he also wants to keep him mom happy. This time he picks up his pace even faster, almost trying to impress his mother that he can run even faster. This earns him the praise he loves,
“Good boy, you’re a good boy.”
We might know we can finish the run, but sometimes we just do not want to. This Sheltie provides all the lazy day feels that we all have from time to time.
