Cat hilariously outsmarts owner during bathtime

Cats and water don’t mix well.

Most cats hate getting wet. So when it comes to bath time, they wriggle and claw their way out of their human’s grasp just to avoid that clear liquid from touching their fur.

That small cat becomes a raging lion. In their heads at least.

This feline found a way to avoid getting soaked though.

Except he’s already wet before he executes his move. This cat is getting his bath and perhaps he’s had enough, so what does he do?

He shuts the faucet off.

He is a very calm kitty, just letting the lady wash his behind as he bids his time.

Maybe he’s trying to compromise by allowing them to bathe him while he dictates when enough is enough.

A viewer said what we’re all thinking,

“At least he isn’t violently scratching and murdering you all.”

This cat is being really nice about his discomfort.

Not all cats hate water. But it’s pretty hard to tell which ones won’t react violently when you try to bathe one.

A cat’s evolutionary history did not have them interacting with water. Most cats were found in dry, arid places.

Water was not hardwired into their genes. There’s nothing about water that’s been passed down to our modern felines.

Cats have an incredible sense of smell too. Purina says,

“Smell is a cat’s most reliable sense. Even though we might not detect them, the chemicals in the tap water give it a particular odour that a kitten’s sensitive nose will pick up straight away. It’s fine for dipping a paw in every once in a while, but having their fur submerged in a liquid that smells nothing like their coat should smell, is enough to put them off bath time.”

Would you bathe in stinky water? Thought not.

This cat looks around the room, wondering what all the fuss is about, before he reaches out with his right paw and shuts the faucet.

You can hear a lady patiently telling him not to do it. But he persists!

Now cats generally groom themselves so owners don’t really need to be constantly giving them a bath.

It’s only when your furry friends get really dirty do they need a good scrubbing.

It’s not clear as to how this kitty learned to turn the faucet off.

He does it over and over so he does know what he’s doing.

Another viewer said,

This cat is more eco-friendly than my neighbour He just doesn’t like to waste water.”

Good point. They’re letting the water run after gathering some in that huge cup.

This cat has more sense than those humans. And to think he’s not the one paying for the water bill!

There’s just no way around it. A cat this smart deserves all the views and likes he’s getting.

If he’s learned how to shut the taps off, he’ll find other contraptions easy to fiddle with.
