Our animals sometimes take more care of us than we of them!
If you have ever had a pet you cared about, you know that while humans “take care” of them, they often care for us as well. Our pets know when we are sad and let us snuggle them, they alert us when something is amiss, and so much more. One might even say that having a pet is a bit of an insurance policy!
Dogs and cats have a record of looking out for humans in incredible ways.
There are so many stories of dogs and cats saving their owners from an otherwise deathly peril. One example of this is seen with a dog and owner from South Carolina. Brian Rand was woken up from sleeping by his dog pulling and nudging at his leg. When Brian woke up, he realized his home was on fire and his dog was trying to save him.
The stories are countless and show us just how much our pets care.
One of these stories has recently come to light through the form of a video. Dogs are often the protagonist in the stories of pet heroism, but this time around, our feline friends get the spotlight! Dlore Alvares posted to Facebook recently with footage of a cat saving the life of a baby.
We can see the entire thing play out incredibly.
Taken on security cam, we see a little kid in red playing on the ground near a crib. We don’t know if the baby climbed out onto the floor or if it was left there. What we do know, however, is that the baby had a “guardian cat” on this day.
Looking carefully, you can see a cat sitting on the black chair to the left of the crib.
Watching every move with caution, you can tell that this cat is on the lookout. The little baby slowly starts to crawl toward the bottom of the screen, right into a stairwell going down. The cat immediately comes to attention when he notices the little kid getting dangerously close.
Right as the baby gets to the top of the stairs, we see the cat leap to action.
Jumping off of the chair and sprinting to the baby, the cat goes into superhero mode.
It pulls the baby away from the edge and then throws itself in front of the stairs with paws out, stopping the child from going any further. It stands there, blocking the way as the video ends.
This hero cat very well might have saved a life.
Further research reveals what the stairwell that the baby was crawling towards looked like. It is at least a 20 ft drop down tile and very well could have been deadly.
We even get a look at the cat who did the saving!
The cat in question also got a photo snapped! The hero of the story got some media attention as this incredible video is circling the internet right now. While the parents in question may be in some trouble, at least their cat knew what to do.
