The wonders of modern-day technology have allowed us to do amazing things – but one of its best uses has to be giving us an insight into what our pets get up to when we’re not at home. We’ve all had that curiosity about what exactly our pets are doing while we’re away at work. Do they simply sleep all day, or is it like a scene from Garfield where they end up getting up to all sorts?

Thanks to the invention of home security cameras, our questions can now be answered.

Cat mom Ida Myrin came across some videos online of pets who were left home alone, and she decided to see what would happen when she left her own fur baby alone with a camera.

Her cat’s name is Isola and he is three years old. He appears to be one of those cats who thinks he’s human- so when his owners leave him to go out that day, he assumes that she’s going with them- and even goes to grab his leash.

He likes to be a part of everything.

There’s something pretty heart-breaking about seeing the cat eagerly bringing his leash to the door – only to find that his owners have left without him.

When Isola sees that his humans have disappeared, he continues to drag around his leash whilst meowing pitifully. Eventually, he seems to get the message that they’ve gone for good, and he sits patiently by the front door to wait for their return.

If we were his owners, we don’t think we’d ever be able to leave him again after watching this video!

Ida has brought up Isola from his kitten years. She told Bored Panda:

“He is kinda spoiled and lazy, but also loving. He always demands our attention and yells every time he doesn’t get it. He’s always moving so that he can see us both, he loves a good cuddle, but hates faces. When he was a kitten he often stopped what he was doing to randomly hit the floor instead and he has NO ball control. We also think that he is a bit claustrophobic. He loves feet. LOVES.”

Is there any way Isola can conquer his loneliness?

The obvious answer would be to get another cat – as Isola clearly doesn’t like being alone!

Funnily enough, when people suggested this on Reddit, Ida explained that she actually does have another cat. In fact, the reason she was leaving was to take the other cat to the vet!

No wonder Isola thought that he was coming along too. How dare they have a family outing without him!

While us humans have a huge number of things to keep us occupied, for our pets, we are often their whole world. Even the cats who pretend not to care are likely secretly waiting for their owners to come home.

Isola wasn’t best pleased with Ida when she finally returned home.

In fact, he was more fussed about the strange vet smell coming from the other cat.

“He didn’t even come to say hi (like he usually ALWAYS does), but went straight to the other cat to smell him.”
