You should never judge a book by its cover – and just because someone is covered in tattoos and rides a loud motorcycle doesn’t mean they’re not a kind and caring person. The former members of Rescue Ink are proof of this.

They’re a bunch of hardcore dudes committed to stopping dog fighting rings and freeing animals from abusive owners.

Bikers saving animals.

Members of the group investigated claims of animal abuse and even rescued helpless animals from dangerous situations. Some bikers with Rescue Ink have climbed into storm drains to free trapped ducklings or broken up abusive breeding operations.

“Some people like to think of us as superheroes,” said a statement on the group’s website. “The truth is, we are super animal lovers (and protectors). Through the years, and through many caseloads, obstacles, and downright challenges, we remain strong and dedicated to our mission.”

Members would even take in abused or neglected animals and care for them.

They would not let an abused or neglected animal go without a loving home. If that means bringing them into their own home, then that’s exactly what these biker dudes would do. In fact, they would do whatever it takes, within the confines of the law, to help animals.

“Rescue Ink does whatever necessary within the means of the law — that’s what our lawyers tell us to say — to fight abuse and neglect of all kinds,” reads the mission on the Rescue Ink website.

National Geographic gives Rescue Ink their own show.

National Geographic was so impressed by the work done by Rescue Ink that they gave them their own reality series. The show only filmed 6 episodes but received good reviews online.

“Eight guys on Harleys, tattooed head to toe, are coming to the rescue of New York’s animals. Rescue Ink is all about zero tolerance when it comes to animal abuse – and they’re not afraid to get a little in-your-face to prove it,” reads a description of the show.
“This group of tough guys will stop at nothing within the bounds of the law to save animals from desperate situations; they rescue fighting dogs, confront animal abusers, and investigate stolen animals.”

Rescue Ink Foundation closes.

Unfortunately, Rescue Ink ended up dissolving their official charity long ago. Running a charity can be a lot harder than just doing good work. The work that Rescue Ink did lives on in reruns of the reality TV show they had on National Geographic, however. The show and the group have a cult following of fans as well.

“I would love to meet these men and give them all a big thank you for doing what they are doing. it takes a huge heart and guts to do what they do,” wrote one viewer on YouTube.

“Maximum Kudos to all the Rescue Ink crew , great bunch of lads doing a great job. People who inflict violence on animals go on to do unspeakable things to human beings, a life is a life., respect,” wrote another.
