What happened right afterward is simply amazing.

Even if we think we’re acing it at life, we all have moments where we slip up. And sometimes, these moments can cause us pain – accidents often lead to physical or mental damage.

It’s not just us humans who make the occasional mistake. Animals, too, are known for having accidents, from falling while climbing to misjudging their abilities when it comes to running or jumping.

One little bird made a common error in Limerick, Ireland, when it flew into a glass door pane.

The blue tit had been knocked out by the blow, and was lying on a stone slab, unmoving.

You might think that the animal kingdom is relentlessly tough, but not in this bird’s case. Yvonne Clifford, who saw the fallen bird in her garden, noticed that he had a friend by his side.

The bird appeared to be giving the victim a once-over and assessing how badly he’d been hurt.

On a video filmed by Yvonne, the bird could be seen pecking at his friend repeatedly, trying to get a response. He then pulled the bird from side to side with his beak by the wing.

All of a sudden, the injured bird pedaled his legs and hopped to his feet. He sat recovering for a minute or two while his rescuer hopped around him.

He still wasn’t completely back to full strength, and had his legs splayed out in front of him, unable to stand.

Luckily, his relentless friend wasn’t about to leave him alone. He encouraged the bird into a standing position, and the pair flew off together.

Whether the bird knew that his friend was capable of being revived isn’t known, but he was certainly going to give it his best shot – and it paid off.

Yvonne shared her post to a Facebook group called Irish Bird Identification, writing:

“So this poor little bird hit our window over the weekend and what happened next just made our day😊isn’t nature simply amazing!”

“I have seen this happen a few times over the years, though all the birds who flew into my windows died. It proves that birds are emotional beings who feel empathy and grief….cat owners please take note !”

On a similar note, someone else wrote:

“Omg that is truly amazing!! We have regular bird strikes despite having window stickers but I have never ever seen anything like that. Fantastic you got that footage!!”

One person shared a useful tip for helping to prevent birds from flying into windows, writing:

“Make them [windows] opaque either by curtains…nets ….etc. Used to break my heart seeing and hearing another bird crash so made the choice to either have a view or save a life”

A fallen bird is certainly a sorry sight, but luckily, this story has a happy ending – and it’s all thanks to this little blue tit’s best friend. He owes him, big time!
