Man Finds Culprit Causing Holes In Wall
At least he has a good sense of humor about it.

Mark Von Thaden is from Sacramento, California and according to his Facebook profile is the “Owner at Skool DJ,Captain at Placer County Fire Dept. Station 73, Fowler and Owner at Audio Concepts Mobile DJ Service“.

He decided to do some remodeling work on his pool house, specifically the sidings in one of the rooms. One look at his caption says it all.

He hates woodpeckers.

He swings his camera around to give a better look of what he’s been doing and needs to do. Mark goes on to point out all the holes on the walls. No, they’re not bullet holes. Those are woodpecker made holes. Like a rifle on semi-automatic.

“I’ve determined that I hate woodpeckers. This is the reason why.”

Mark angles the camera to show the floor, revealing a massive pile of acorns. Those birds made holes and deposited those acorns in between the walls and the panels inside.

Show them, Mark.

He walks to one panel that he hasn’t pulled off yet just so he could show how much there is behind it. Mark walks to the panel and using his left hand, rips off the remaining panel. Acorns come crashing down from top to bottom!

We’re talking kilos of the stuff! That one panel alone could have filled a small sack!

“Oh how I hate woodpeckers.”

Retorts a very annoyed Mark.

But why do they do it?

Sacramento has a Pest Bird control program that are just a call away. Woodpeckers are classified as pests. They don’t carry any diseases (thank you) however, they are known to cause extensive property damage.

One single bird can peck over 12,000 times a day. Imagine what that small bird can do to your walls. In fact, go ahead and replay Mark’s video and check out the walls of his pool house. That’s what a woodpecker is capable of doing.

Pesky peckers.

These birds live in large groups with a weirdly fascinating way of living. Woodpeckers will store thousands of acorns each year in a place they think is safe. In this case, Mark’s pool house walls. There’s also one bird dedicated to guarding the stash.

They’re lucky Mark hasn’t found them yet. It’s going to take him some time too as he needs to get rid of all those acorns he found.

No laughing matter.

Woodpeckers make a unique sound. It’s as if they’re laughing. Laughing at the problems they’ve caused others. Laughing at Mark’s expense. Remember the cartoon character, Woody Woodpecker? He’s funny but then you wonder if you’d like him in real life.

He’s always pecking here and there and once someone tries to get rid of him, he lets out his trademark laugh. Well Mark’s not laughing that’s for sure. Wonder what woodpecker meat tastes like?

Rake and shovel time.

What else is there to do? Mark shared in the comments section that he’s boxed them all up and will toss them over the hillside. Not sure if he’s serious but really, you can’t blame the guy.

One tree can hold up to 50,000 acorns. Mark’s pool house walls? Well that’s a good question. Though Mark probably doesn’t care. He may have to use bricks or concrete for those new walls though.
