When Albert the parrot’s human dad walked into a pet shop, he found a tiny little bird egg at the bottom of one of their bird cages. That egg was Albert.

The only other bird in the cage was a male parakeet or budgie.

According to Lafeber Company, parakeets are also known as budgies. They are outgoing birds that require care and attention.

“Budgies are playful, love food and they can rival any parrot in terms of talking ability,” the website explains.

Unfortunately, Albert’s mom had just been sold, so the egg had no chance of surviving. That’s until dad stepped in and helped the egg to become Albert.

“I found a tiny budgie egg at a pet shop. If I could incubate it, would I be able to raise it? With these big human hands? It’s mother had just been sold. This meant the egg would have no chance without me giving it a try,” he wrote in his YouTube video caption.

The pet shop owner was happy to give dad the egg he had found which was smaller than the size of a nickel.

“Would I be able to bring it to life?” dad wondered.

He placed the tiny egg inside a matchbox with some cotton bedding and held it in his hand the whole way home.

He then placed the egg inside an incubator for two days.

After two days he held the egg up to a light to see if he could see if there was any life inside the egg.

He could tell. But after four days he detected a heartbeat. You could actually see the heart moving and beating inside of the egg.

The bird inside the egg began to move fast and you could see it moving around when holding it to the light.

Dad made sure to turn the egg three times a day.

On the 19th day, the egg started chirping as Albert pecked his way out. He finally made it out of the shell while in dad’s hand.

The hairless tiny bird was just squeaking away and about the size of a quarter.

And that bird was all head.

He was still stuck to the egg by the umbilical cord. Thankfully dad helped to chip away the rest of his shell and carefully removed him.

This little bird was extremely tiny and fragile. His eyes weren’t even opened yet.

Dad kept the bird in a little bowl wrapped in warm napkins.

He made the bird some special food and tried to feed him with a spoon. The teeny little bird started drinking eventually.

Dad had to feed the bird eight times a day. Albert’s feathers eventually started coming in and he began to get bigger.

His eyes opened and so did his wings.

And it wasn’t long before Albert was a fully grown bird who could fly on his own.
