In the small town of Jaén, Spain, a dog was found in a sorry state. His lower body had been buried in the dirt and he had been heartlessly left for dead.
Thankfully, he was found by a person walking in the area, who quickly reported it to a local rescue team.
Rescuers from the TARA Association rushed immediately to help the dog, who they found to have injuries to his body and snout. It was imperative that they got him out as quickly as possible, so the team had to think on their feet.
One of the women quickly created a muzzle from her shoelace, as some dogs can become aggressive out of fear. The poor dog must have been absolutely terrified as he lay half-buried in the dirt, but he seemed to sense that the people that were rescuing him were here to help.
With the muzzle eventually on the dog, the rescuers were able to begin digging him out. It was going to be a difficult job, as they didn’t want to make his injuries worse. But the priority was to get him out.
Eventually, the dog was freed and could be rushed to a veterinarian. Sadly, abandoned dogs are a common issue in Spain, and rescuers were completely disgusted by the person who had buried their dog in the dirt, saying, “We are fed up of living with these unscrupulous people.”
The dog was christened, “Titan” and was thought to be around 12- 13 years old. He was bleeding from his snout and one side of his body and spent a long time in the hospital recovering. But despite the heartless actions of his previous owner, Titan never gave up, and eventually, he was strong enough to leave the vets and go into foster care.
At first, Titan was confused and seemed to be disassociated from reality. Vets feared that going through such a trauma would change his personality for good. But thankfully, as the brave dog began to recover, he started to become much more alert and aware of his surroundings.
Titan is now in a foster home and spends his days hanging out with the other dogs in care. It’s clear to see a huge difference in him now that he has a loving home, and we’re so thankful that there are rescue teams like the TARA Association to look out for abandoned dogs and give them a much-needed fresh start in life.
Titan’s story was shared onto YouTube by SECOND CHANCE ANIMALS RESCUE, and people took to the comments to share their disgust for the person who abandoned Titan:
“He belonged to someone, was loyal to this person, and this is how he should finish his life? Shame on the owner. This is how we treat animals. As a THING we can use and throw away.“
“How can you do that to an animal ?! Titan must be so confused. To be 12-13 years old, and left to die. He must wonder what he did that he would be treated that way. You didn’t do anything wrong Titan! It was your heartless owner. You will be loved now. The way you deserve to be,” another commenter said.
