Children should never have to be separated from their siblings.

Even though they weren’t biological sisters, Penelope Rose, a potbelly pig, and Ruby Sue, a pit bull, were sisters at heart.

“I don’t think they know they’re a pit bull and a pig. They just are sisters,” Jessica Overlock told 12 News.

These sisters have lived a very happy life with their owner where they were inseparable.

They do EVERYTHING together… literally.

“They eat together. They go outside to play and go to the bathroom together,” Overlock said.

Unfortunately, their owner passed away leaving the sister as orphans.

Overlock was a close friend and neighbor to Penelope Rose and Ruby Sue’s owner who passed suddenly.

Overlock would always take care of the sisters when their owner would be away.

So, she took the girls in when their owner passed away. The Overlook family wanted to make sure the sisters would find a new forever home together.

Afterall, Overlock promised.

“That’s one thing I promised the little girl who lost her dad, that we were going to find them a home together, so they could be together forever.”

She had Penelope Rose, who has pink painted nails, and Ruby Sue, the big sister, for about a week.

“He has no family here and his family in Ohio has no interest in anything, so that left me,” Overlock told People.

But Overlock wasn’t able to keep them because she has her own pets, so she has been trying to find someone who will give these sassy sisters a forever home.

Overlock made a public plea seeking parents for the sisters.

The one condition was that they were a packaged deal.

She stressed that splitting them up was not an option.

“I have been inundated with emails,” Overlock said.

So many that she wasn’t able to respond to them all. Overlock said she will, however, make sure that she finds the perfect parents for the sisters.

“I think their unique story and their unique relationship is what’s going to get them adopted together,” Overlock said.

First, they have to be able to handle both a potbelly pig and a pit bull at the same time.

It was also if this family didn’t have any other pets.

Ruby Sue doesn’t really get along with other dogs or cats.

“What I need to get out the most is that I have to have them go to a home with no other dogs and cats,” Overlock said. “I would imagine other pigs are fine, but I am not sure.”

She knows that she will have to find a very special family. Preferably one in Arizona, if possible.

Even with all those demands, it wasn’t long before Overlock found a new forever home for Ruby Sue and Penelope Ros.

The King family turned out to be the perfect fit for Penelope Rose and Ruby Sue. They now live with the King Family in Mesa.
