As summer starts to wind down, people are heading on their final vacations of the season. A beach trip is often the best way to celebrate the end of summer and tackle fall with a tan that lasts until Thanksgiving!
Still, one of the things that linger in everyone’s mind as they head to the beaches is the image of a gray dorsal fin rising from choppy waters.
Shark Week has been over for a while now, but there are still stories coming in of some absolutely wild encounters. I guess nobody told the sharks it was over? Sharks are amazing animals, but it’s stories like this one that reminds us all who the real kings of the ocean are.
A man was recently jet-skiing off the coast of Australia when something incredible happened.
The man was on a jet-ski and noticed something in the water closer to the shoreline. As he rode up, he realized what it was – a MASSIVE shark was minding its own business, swimming around near the shore.
Most people would immediately bolt, but this man seemed to have a death wish.
The story may just prove that Australians are made of different stuff than the rest of the world! Instead of taking off away from the shark (like any sane human would do), he decided he wanted to get closer to it. As he got near, he noticed that it was a 10-foot long bull shark.
Bull sharks are notoriously aggressive and the last shark most people would want to run into.

If that isn’t enough to scare you while you’re in the water, you might have something wrong with you!
Still, the man got close to the shark and started doing circles around it with his jet-ski.
As anyone can see, the recipe for an accident is here. There’s a highly dangerous and aggressive shark, and a very brave and annoying Australian messing with it. What’s more, the whole thing was filmed.
Within a few seconds, we see the shark make a charge at the jet ski.
Like an arrow in the water, the shark lept up and bit down on the side of the ski, narrowly missing the man’s leg! It was a truly amazing sight and the damage after shows just how lucky the man was.
The jet ski had deep teeth marks that went through the plastic and foam, all the way to metal.
If that shark had gotten a hold of his leg, it would have been game over. As Inside Edition said,
“Better the jet ski, than the jet skiier”
