One of the coolest things about animals is that they manage to stay totally chill when they’re giving birth. While they may not be fully aware of what’s going on, they take the whole birthing process in their stride and manage to deliver multiple babies without any pain relief! After the birth, they jump straight into caring for their babies without any time to relax and rest up. They do slightly put us humans to shame.

We’ve seen a fair few videos of cat and dog moms soon after they’ve delivered their babies, but how many of you have seen a video of some ferret babies?

Well we hadn’t, and after coming across the most adorable video of a ferret mama showing off her babies to her human owner, we just knew that we’d have to share it with you.

The adorable video titled “Ferret shows human her babies” was posted onto YouTube by RM Videos and has gained an impressive 34.6 million views since the June 2017 upload date, as well as thousands of likes and comments. The cute clip begins with the ferret biting down on his owner’s finger and bringing their hand toward a cardboard box. It’s obvious that the proud mama wants to show off whatever is in the box.

As the ferret moves her owner’s finger closer to the box, we begin to hear a noise coming from within.

It’s like a high-pitched, squeaking sound, and it’s the most adorable thing that we’ve heard today. The babies must be able to sense that their mama is close by, and they want her to come back into the box!

We have to say, even though the ferret is insistent that her owner sees inside the box, she is still very gentle as she pulls her owner’s finger closer and closer.

Eventually, the camera pans up and we’re able to see inside the box. There are lots of tiny little ferret babies, and they seem very happy that their mama has returned.

Ferret babies are called kits, and they’re usually tiny at around 2-2.5 inches long. They’re born with soft baby fuzz instead of fur, and like many other newborn animals, they’re initially blind, deaf and have no teeth. Despite there being too many babies for us to count, apparently ferret moms are very good at keeping track of their babies. They know the exact number of kits they have, and can tell straight away if one has gone missing.

What devoted mamas!

People took to the comments to express their love for the video, with one person saying:

“The ferret is pulling his hand as if he was the father of those babies!. Well, one can’t run from his responsibilities I guess!!”

Many people also had their own theories on why the ferret was trying to guide the human’s finger towards her babies. One user suggested:

Ferret wanting to feed her babies his humans hand, Human: aww look guys she wants me to show her babies.”

Another joked:

“Plot twist: ‘The ferret wasn’t trying to show the hooman her babies, but rather mistook the hand for one of them and just try to put it back into the box.'”

Whatever the reason for the ferret mamma’s actions, we’re just thrilled that we got to see so many adorable kits! Watch the sweet video below.
