When you get to a certain age, you have a right to be grumpy! We have all met those people who are old and a bit dissatisfied with things in general. Can we really blame them? For example, if you have been eating cereal a certain way for 70 years and suddenly they change the recipe, you might be angry!

That’s basically what it’s like to be old but with almost every aspect of your life.

Instead of cereal, it’s everything! With that in mind, it makes sense that older adults are sometimes grumpy. Interesting enough, it isn’t just humans that can be a bit grumpy as they get older; animals can, too!

Even when our pets get grumpy, we are still supposed to take care of them.

Imagine if we just abandoned our grandma and grandpa when they got older! That would be terrible. Unfortunately, that happens quite a bit with people and their pets. When their dog or cat gets a bit older and more difficult to take care of, some people aren’t up for the relationship’s new season.

For Leon and Nikita, this was the sad situation they were in.

Leon and Nikita are the old-timers of the cat world. They are 21-year-old brothers that live in the UK, and they are completely bonded! Incredibly, these brothers are going strong even though they are both older than most cats ever get to be!

Instead of living out their golden years in a loving family, they were unfortunately given up.

The two siblings found themselves given up to the RSPCA Northamptonshire branch when their family didn’t want them anymore. Terrible, right?

“Poor Leon and Nikita find themselves in our care at the grand age of 21,” according to RSPCA Northamptonshire. “They are bonded brothers and were signed over to be rehomed as they were not coping with family life.”

Despite the shelter’s incredible care, it isn’t the ideal place to live.

Senior cats do best in a calm and gentle environment. These two felines were treated impeccably, but the shelter wasn’t the best place for them. Even the shelter knew that the best-case scenario was to have them in a new home that would love them.

Even though they are old, they were great cats for a new home!

The only things that the shelter asked for was a home that didn’t have kids and someone who was willing to check in on Nikita. Recently, Nikita was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and needed some blood tests to ensure the medicine the shelter gave him was working.

The brothers still love humans and snuggles!

These two have been around the block quite a bit and could easily be bitter and resentful, especially after what they just went through. Despite that, they still love to be around humans and are always down for a chin tickle and some company.

After the shelter posted about the two, they were immediately showered with hundreds of offers!

With offers from the UK and the US, the two cats were sure to get a good home! The shelter never expected such a response but are all the happier for it. Now, the two brothers live a relaxed life with a new loving family who is willing to sacrifice a bit for these two old-timers.
